DEMOLITION work began this week at the site of a former snooker centre in Hereford.
The Potting Shed was also a popular venue for fans of pool and darts – but is being knocked down to make way for housing.
Beaumont Builders secured planning permission for six houses and three apartments on the land on the corner of Ryelands Street and Baysham Street in Whitecross.
A total of eight parking spaces were also included in the plan for the site that was occupied by Bulmers as a printing office before it became the Potting Shed.
Hereford City Council did object to the planning application, saying the proposed development was in "too dense a location to warrant the large build".
City councillors also claimed the "proposed build appeared too close to the road" and voiced concerns over parking issues.
But, despite their objections, the planning application was approved by Herefordshire Council.
Meanwhile, builders were also at work at the nearby Moorfields Inn this week as plans have been passed to turn the former pub into residential occupation.
