A WOMAN in her 60s was the victim of an attempted robbery in a Hereford underpass.
The victim was walking through the Eign Gate underpass in the direction of Whitecross Road when she was approached by a group of people sitting on a wall on the left-hand side.
One tried to grab the woman's handbag, which she kept hold of.
The robber then grabbed the woman's necklace, causing her to drop her bag to the floor.
A member of the public then ran towards the assailant after the victim called for help. The assailant then ran up the underpass ramp and headed towards Greyfriars Bridge.
Police are now appealing information to find the person behind the attempted robbery, which happened at about 6.40pm on Sunday September 16.
The assailant is described as female, aged about 20 years old, white, slim build, 5ft 4 inches, with brown hair in a ponytail.
She is described as having a pointed nose, of pale complexion and believed to be east European. She was wearing a light grey zip up hoody, dark denim trousers, and possibly sports trainers with pink colouring, according to police.
