AN open meeting is being held to try to get a purpose built cycling track in Hereford.
The team trying to get a closed road cycling circuit inside the racecourse has been in consultation with British Cycling for two years.
A funding pot of £15m has been announced by British Cycling and Sport England to invest in community cycling facilities across the UK – and Friday's 6.30pm meeting at the Leisure Centre will look at the best ways to tap into these finances.
The 1.5km circuit has the backing of Herefordshire Council and Hereford City Council, and in May 2016 planning permission was granted for it to be built in phases.
It is likely that the funding application to British Cycling and Sport England, if successful, would cover 50% of the cost, so organisers are now concentrating on securing the other half of the funding.
