A LORRY carrying 40 tonnes of fertiliser caught fire on the Herefordshire border.
Ewyas Harold fire crews joined colleagues from South Wales in tackling the flames near Pandy yesterday morning.
The lorry's trailer was well alight when emergency teams arrived and their quick response ensured the fire did not spread.
Teams wearing breathing apparatus put out the fire while other crew members created a dam using environmental packs and the surrounding undergrowth to prevent run off into the water course.
Ewyas Harold fire fighters confirmed no one was injured.
