A SUITABLE building to house the county's first Armed Forces veteran hub is being looked for.
The pilot veteran hub will be based in Hereford after funding was granted in April.
But a suitable building is yet to be found. A Herefordshire Council spokeswoman said: “Herefordshire Council is currently in negotiation with a charity to commit to take on the prospective tenancy of a building to house Herefordshire’s first Armed Forces veteran hub. "Once this commitment is in place, the council in conjunction with the Hub Working Group, will look to secure a suitable venue for the veterans hub.”
The pilot veteran hub will build on the success of the military helpdesk, currently manned by the Royal British Legion and SSAFA at Blueschool House Customer Service Centre.
The grant from the Ministry of Defence will fund a dedicated hub in the city centre, providing support and guidance on issues such as employment, benefits, housing, health and access to military community networks.
