TRIBUTES were paid to an 'amazing, kind hearted' teenager who was killed when his car crashed with a lorry, at the inquest into his death.
Macca Davies, 18, died on March 5 when his Renault Clio crashed with an Iveco lorry on the main Hereford to Worcester road at Storridge.
The inquest heard how Mr Davies pulled out of the junction of the Cradley road to turn right to Worcester and as he moved onto the A4103 he was hit by an oncoming scaffolding lorry.
The 'fun loving' and 'likeable' 18-year-old from Cradley was on his way to work as an apprentice alarm systems fitter when the accident took place just before 8am.
A traffic crash investigator told the inquest that the lorry was travelling within the 50 miles per hour speed limit of the road, at 39 miles per hour before the impact.
Neither car had a mechanical or structural fault, the inquest heard.
Damien Dutton, the driver of the lorry, told the inquest that he could not stop in time.
He told the court: "All of a sudden the car is in front of me."
At the inquest he said nothing distracted him before the collision.
Police evidence read out in court stated that phone records showed he had sent a Snapchat over a minute before the crash, but considering the speed and distance he travelled, the act was 'not considered to be a causative factor'.
At the scene Mr Dutton was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving under the influence of drink or drugs, but was released after tests revealed he had 10 microgrammes of cocaine in his system, which is below the legal limit, the inquest heard.
A witness of the crash explained how other drivers on the road stopped to help and how he and three others gave Mr Davies CPR after removing him from the car.
Mr Davies's father Simon paid tribute to his 'fun loving, amazing, kind hearted son'.
He described how the teenager was fit and healthy and a keen footballer, who played for Colwall Wanderers.
Coroner Mark Bricknell stated that the crash caused Mr Davies 'unsurvivable injuries'.
He attributed the cause of death as multiple injuries as a consequence of trauma and recorded a conclusion of a road traffic collision at Herefordshire Coroner's Court on October 24.
