THE TOPPING out ceremony of a new eco-roundhouse headquarters was celebrated by supporters of Longlands, an alternative education organic farm near Bromyard.
The Mayor of Bromyard and the High Sherriff of Worcester put a yew branch into place on the round-wood frame, while CEO and founder Julia Evans secured the final beam into position.
The round-wood larch frame will form the skeleton of the new headquarters for Longlands which provides alternative education and mental health support to young people in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Bromyard’s Mayor, Councillor Roger Page, and the High Sherriff, Cassian Roberts, hauled a yew branch to the very top of the new framework as a symbol of protection and good fortune.
The ceremony was also attended by Bill Wiggin, MP for North Herefordshire, Clare Davies, Mayoress of Bromyard and staff, students and supporters of the site.
Julia Evans said: "It's been lovely to have this event and have our supporters come along and see for themselves the project taking shape.
"Everyone is impressed by this wonderful larch frame. It's a great start to our roundhouse HQ.”
Mayor of Bromyard, Roger Page, added: "This is a wonderful idea for a wonderful project. I’m delighted this roundhouse is now going ahead and I was very honoured together with the Mayoress to be present at the topping out.”
