THE boss of a growing electrical specialist has credited a move to the Hereford Enterprise Zone for future-proofing his business.
Electrical engineering firm Melcon has expanded to take on a new member of staff since moving in and further expansion is planned for the coming months.
Chris Williams, managing director, explained: "I first spoke to the Enterprise Zone team in May 2017 to confirm I wanted two plots of land and we had built our new site and moved in by the middle of this March.
"The whole process could not have been made easier. The team at the zone responded positively to everything we wanted to do, made sure no barriers were put in our way and worked alongside us throughout the entire project.
“I thought I had dropped a bit of a bombshell when I said I wanted the building to be bright red and grey, but the zone were really receptive from day one. I cannot speak highly enough of the way they have helped make everything we wanted to do come to fruition.”
The company, which boasts Heineken and Kingspan amongst its clients, is now based in a state-of-the art offices on Skylon Park in a building branded in the company’s red and grey colour scheme.
Chris added: "We have been able to future-proof the business through the move. We now have custom-built offices with all the space, equipment and facilities we need, as well as the land to expand as we continue to grow.
“The new offices have certainly helped raise our profile and the lean decision-making process at the zone has ensured the move was as straightforward as possible.”
