THE cause of why a three-month-old baby died could not be ascertained, an inquest heard.
Elijah Martin of Springfield Road, Ross-on-Wye died on June 8 last year.
He had a twin sister and was born at 37 weeks to parents Dawn Martin and Scott Beddoes.
On June 8 Ms Martin removed his twin sister from their cot at 7am and Elijah was still sleeping.
At 9am she returned and found him face down in the cot. He was taken by ambulance to Hereford County Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Coroner Mark Bricknell said the cause of death could not be ascertained entirely by the post mortem.
Mr Bricknell recorded a narrative verdict: "The post mortem examination did not provide a cause of death. It is possible that Elijah died of sudden infant death syndrome as there were a number of risk factors.
"The post mortem findings found that accidental airway obstruction may have caused his death. The authorities were satisfied there were no suspicious circumstances or third party involvement in Elijah's death."
