FIREFIGHTERS were nearly hit by drivers ignoring their signals while they attended an oil spill on the A40.
A fire crew from Whitchurch was called to the A40 westbound at Whitchurch at 6pm last night to a lorry oil spillage.

On the Whitchurch fire crew's Twitter page they wrote: "It is extremely dangerous to work on live carriageways!
"When we signal for vehicles to slow down, it’s for your safety and ours. Please think and slow down as some of our crew were nearly hit by speeding drivers ignoring our signals today."
The oil was contained and the lorry recovered, while Highways England cleared the spillage.
