WORKERS were evacuated last night after a fire started at Special Metals Wiggin.
Flames could be seen coming from the roof of the Holmer Road based factory as the fire took hold just before 5pm.
A fire service spokesman said that fire crews were called to reports of a fire at the factory at 4.56pm yesterday.
Three crews from Hereford and a crew from Leominster attended the scene, where a fire that had begun in an external pump house had spread to building cladding.
Firefighters tackled the small blaze with four breathing apparatuses, main jets and a hose jet.
A water carrier was also in attendance.
The flames were doused down by 5.30pm and following a thorough inspection, fire crews left the factory at 11.08pm.
It is not believed that anyone was injured.
