CITY of Hereford Rotary Club president Rob Soutar can now survey members attending meetings from an elevated position of power at the top table.
Back in the 1930s, one of Rob’s predecessors as president, Cyril Franklin presented a chair to the club for use by the organisation’s top official at meetings.
But the chair had vanished from sight until recently being rediscovered in a storeroom at the Three Counties Hotel, where the club used to hold their meetings.
The chair has now been repaired and is in weekly use at meetings at the Bay Horse, now the club’s headquarters.
The club has enjoyed talks in March by Tim Hinton on the First World War battlefields and his father’s service in the conflict, and by Drs Andy and Gill Butterfill on the Hereford Night Shelter which offered more than 60 people a bed for the night during the last winter.
Plans are now well under way for the annual duck race on Sunday, May 5.
Tickets are available from club members and can also be bought at the National Autism Stand on Castle Green on Sunday, April 7, in Hereford’s High Town on Saturday, April 13, at the Co-op in College Road on Saturday, April 20 and at the Co-op in Grandstand Road from Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28.
