A HEREFORD postman will be running his 19th consecutive London Marathon this year for a fantastic local cause.
Mike Chandler, 62, will be taking on the challenge this year in aid of Hereford's Blackfriars Street based Yeleni Therapy and Support Centre, which supported his daughter Laura when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer.
Whilst Laura's cancer was caught early and the future is now looking much better for her, Mike said that discovering Yeleni was a silver lining to a particularly dark cloud.
"Laura found them a huge blessing at what was a very bewildering time," Mike said.
"She returned from each therapy session session feeling so much lighter, more positive and with a sense of complete empathy and understanding from everyone she met at Yeleni."
Mike is hoping to raise £20,000 for the award-winning charity, which offers tailor-made programmes of complementary therapies to help offset the effects of cancer surgery and medication, along with ongoing support through classes, workshops and self-help groups.
