SITTING Mayor of Bromyard, Councillor Roger Page, has been re-elected for a second term.
The Independent member of Bromyard and Winslow Town Council won the majority vote at the council's annual meeting last night.
Coun Page, who moved to the Bromyard area in the mid 2000s, joined the Town Council in 2011 and is the 17th person to hold the position of Town Mayor since the town became a Market Town Parish Council in 1986.
"It is an honour and a privilege to serve as mayor," he said.
"The last twelve months have been very busy and I expect my second term to be the same."
Kempson Players, which looks after the Bromyard Recreation Ground, will continue to be his chosen Mayor's Charity until the end of his term.
Nearly £4,000 has been raised for the organisation since coun Page's election in 2018.
Councillor Clare Davies, who coun Page last year invited to be his Mayoress due to his partner's work commitments, will continue to serve as Mayoress this year.
"Clare has been superb, we make a great team," coun Page said.
Coun Page also stood for Herefordshire Independents in the recent county council elections, missing out on the Bromyard East and Bringsty seat by 61 votes.
In 2017 he stood as the Labour Parliamentary candidate in North Herefordshire, but said the "strong lurch to the extreme left under Jeremy Corbyn" forced him to leave the party.
