AN inquest was today opened into the death of the woman killed in last week's tragic house fire.
Joyce Elizabeth Kenney, who was 82, lived at the mid-terraced home in Cobhall Close, Redhill, with her husband Jack.
Fire crews were called to their home last Friday afternoon as smoke billowed across the south of the city.
But, despite the efforts of rescue teams, little could be done to save Mrs Kenney.
Today's hearing was adjourned to allow a full inquest hearing to be held at a later date.
An appeal has been set up to raise money for Mr Kenney who had managed to get out of the home by the time fire fighters arrived.
So far more than £1,400 has been pledged. To add to the total, visit www.gofundme.com/joyce-and-jack-fund
