COUNTY planners have given the go-ahead to demolish 41 bungalows in Hereford and replace them with 71 homes.
The proposals by Herefordshire Housing will see a mix of bungalows and houses built on Beattie Avenue with parking, private spaces and changes to the road.
Most of the prefab bungalows along the street have been vacated ahead of the plans to demolish the properties along the residential street.

Those living in the remaining properties voiced their frustration over the lack of progress with the scheme earlier this year but local Julie Dutton said residents were now very pleased to see the plans moving forward.
“We are all over the moon,” she said.
“They’ve demolished the outbuildings of the empty properties, collected the rubbish and started weeding the pavements.
“We understand they are hoping to start the work in December, so things are looking good.”

The plans include 21 social rents for existing Beattie Avenue residents, 19 private rental homes, 11 for affordable rental, 10 homes for shared ownership and 10 for rent to buy.
Each property will be allocated parking and there will also be spaces for visitors.
The proposals also include traffic calming measures for the avenue.
The developers say their aim is to provide an attractive and appropriate scheme that reflects the scale of the surrounding neighbourhood.
They say they will use a mixture of red and grey bricks for walls along with light grey and yellow render and timber porches. The roofs will be made of concrete tiles.
A Herefordshire Housing spokesperson said: “We are really pleased that planning permission has now been granted for our redevelopment of Beattie Avenue. We are currently out to tender to find the contractor who will be working on site with us to make this transformation happen.
“We hope to start on site in winter 2019.”
Herefordshire Council approved the scheme with conditions on June 25.
