AN INDIAN restaurant in Hereford has been given a zero star food hygiene rating by inspectors.
Jalsagor Restaurant on St Owen St was given the lowest possible score and marked as 'urgent improvement necessary'.
But the owner says the inspectors concerns have now been addressed.
An inspector paid a visit to the restaurant, which also serves Bangladeshi to eat-in or takeaway, on August 12.
It was previously inspected last December, and was given two stars by Herefordshire Council.
According to the Food Standards Agency's (FSA) website, major improvement is necessary in relation to the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, as well as the management of food safety.
Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building includes having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene
Improvement is also necessary in the third area businesses are marked on, hygienic food handling.
Businesses where food is supplied, sold or consumed must be inspected at intervals ranging from six months to two years and their hygiene standards across the three categories are rated.
