A WOMAN who has no recollection of being taken to Hereford County Hospital spat at a police officer in the waiting room, a court has heard.

Simone Willowbrook, 49, had been food shopping near her home in Llandrindod Wells, but was taken to hospital by the ambulance service after she fell unwell.

Shafquat Reaz, prosecuting, said how Willowbrook had walked past PC Caine at around 3.30am on August 31 and without reason spat at him, landing on his stab vest.

When other officers intervened, she started to shout and swear at them before being taken to Hereford police station.

Mr Reaz added that while Willowbrook was in the custody suite, she had 'he's a police officer, he deserved it'.

Emma Thorne, mitigating, said Willowbrook was thought to have collapsed in the supermarket.

"She was doing some food shopping for her mother and has no recollection of how she got to hospital," she said.

"She was told she collapsed and taken to Hereford County Hospital A&E from Llandrindod Wells.

"She had taken some tablets to improve her mood as she's been depressed of late and must have had a reaction."

Ms Thorne added Willowbrook doesn't know why she acted the way she did, saying she respects officers, but is currently going through a difficult separation.

At Hereford Magistrates on Wednesday, Willowbrook, of Temple Street, pleaded guilty of assaulting the emergency worker and was ordered to pay £50 compensation.

The court didn't impose any costs due to a lack of means, because of the separation.
