HEREFORD'S Old Bridge has fully reopened to traffic this morning, Herefordshire Council have confirmed.
The bridge was closed to pedestrians and vehicles on Sunday after officials became concerned about the build up of debris blocking the middle span with the river in full flood.
People eager to catch a glimpse of the water rushing under the arches were ordered to leave the bridge by police on Sunday afternoon.
The bridge was reopened to pedestrians yesterday, but following an inspection, it has now been deemed safe for motor traffic to cross.
The news will come as a relief to commuters in the city, which has been gridlocked at rush hour following the closure of the Old Bridge and the Holme Lacy causeway at the weekend.
