A DRINK-DRIVER was more than two times over the limit when he took to the road after forgetting his medication, a court has heard.
Gediminas Krapas, 55, of Primrose Close, Ross-on-Wye, admitted the offence when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford on December 18.
Prosecutor Nicola Ritchie told the court that police began following Krapas' Skoda Fabia on the B4234 Over Ross Street at 8.40pm on August 24 after noticing his erratic driving.
Officers approached Krapas after he parked his car outside the Co-op, and he was arrested after a breath test revealed he was over the limit.
An evidential blood test showed Krapas had 198 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.
Marilena Di Vitantonio, for Krapas, said he had been at a party that evening and had not had any intention of driving.
But he decided to make the journey after realising he had left his blood pressure medication at home.
"He thought he would be OK to drive, but that clearly was not the case, and he accepts that," Miss Di Vitantonio.
Krapas was handed a £255 fine and disqualified from driving for 20 months. He must also pay costs of £135 and a £32 victim surcharge.
