AN ALTERNATIVE activity to the traditional Boxing Day hunt meet will be taking place again in Bromyard this year.
Organiser Karen Rock said the 'Beat the Feast' event on Bromyard Downs offers a family friendly, sociable and upbeat alternative to the Clifton-on-Teme hunt meet in Bromyard, attracting walkers of all ages last year.
All are welcome to join the meet in the main car park on the Downs (next to the Royal Oak pub) at 11am on December 26, and burn off those extra Christmas calories while enjoying a gentle walk across the top of the Downs.
Ms Rock said: "The reason behind the dog walk was to provide an alternative family-friendly, free activity which taps into the Christmas spirit instead of going to see the hunt meet.
"Boxing day is a bit dead for anything going on to take the family to on the doorstep. It seemed more positive to provide an alternative."
Ms Rock added tinsel, twinkly lights, festive hats and Christmas jumpers are welcomed, but dogs should be on leads. Wellies will be needed, as the ground remains very wet.
Donations are welcomed for local wildlife welfare groups.
