TWO brothers have been fined less than £200 each after heroin, cannabis and Fentanyl tablets were found as police raided a property in Leominster.
Jessie and Luke Hampsey, both 42, of Leominster, pleaded guilty at Hereford Magistrates Court to possessing the drugs which were said to be for personal use.
On November 27, 2018, police raided Jessie Hampsey’s house in Middlemarsh, Leominster, said Shafquat Reaz, prosecuting.
He added: “Both defendants were detained and searched. Class As were found. Fentanyl is a serious drug, usually obtained through the dark web.
“Both have records of drug possession, but all matters are consistent with personal use.”
Emma Thorne, for the twin brothers, said although cannabis was found when police searched the property, it was a “negligible amount” worth no more than £2.
She added the brothers didn’t know the pills were Fentanyl, an opioid used as pain medication.
“Both boys suspected them to be Diazepam, both as prescriptions from their GP but had bought extra tablets,” she said.
“The tablets looked like Diazepam but when they were analysed turned out to be Fentanyl.”
The court also heard how the pair had been heroin addicts since the age of 21, but are now no longer using the class A drug.
Luke Hampsey, of Mill Street, was found in possession of 2.6 grams of heroin, 110 milligrams of cannabis and 80 Fentanyl tablets, worth about 50 pence each.
His brother was found with 564 milligrams of heroin and four Fentanyl tablets.
Both were fined £40 and told to pay £32 victim surcharge and £80 costs. Magistrates also ordered the drugs be destroyed.
