A BUSY route into Hereford could reopen within the next three weeks after flooding caused major damage.
Herefordshire Council has said work began on the B4399 Holme Lacy Causeway on Monday (February 24) and it's thought these works, to repair damage to the edge of the carriageway, should be completed by March 16.
A spokesperson said: "Holme Lacy Causeway remains closed. Repair work began on site on Monday, February 24 and due to the amount of damage we expect these works to take three weeks, subject to ongoing weather conditions.
"As works progress we will review whether we may be able to put in place traffic lights to partially re-open the road.
"Progress will be reviewed at the end of this week and we will provide further updates following this review."
A second road near Holme Lacy also remains closed, and it's thought this closure could be more long-term.
The B4224, Fiddler’s Green to Fownhope road remains closed due to a landslip and partially collapsed retaining wall.
"Over the last week we have been working to stabilise the landslip to ensure there is no further movement of the road," the spokesperson added.
"Temporary drainage was put in place which has been successful in removing the excess water.
"Specialists have undertaken initial structural inspections and this will provide some indication on potential solutions for repair, although it is likely that more surveys will be required before any repair work commences.
"We are also mindful of utilities services along this route. Please respect the road closures that are in place for your safety and to prevent any further damage to the road."
A further update is expected tomorrow (Friday).
