A statement from practice manager Vanessa Hargest said: "Due to several rumours that we understand are circulating, this is to confirm that Nunwell surgery has not to date had any confirmed cases of Covid-19, the coronavirus originating in Wuhan, Hubei province."
"We are following very strict infection control procedures and all patients calling us are being asked to give us information on their condition and recent travel or contact information.
"This is to try to prevent any potential infectious patients from attending the practice and to protect our community.
"If you have any flu like illness, please visit 111.nhs.uk to check if you are at risk and to find further advice and guidance. You can also call 111 though they are under extreme pressure currently.
"Please do not attend the surgery if you have flu like symptoms, follow self care advice on the 111 site. If you become acutely unwell call 111 or telephone the practice for advice."
The surgery, in Pump Street, has more than 9,000 registered patients and had sent a text message out earlier this week warning anyone with coronavirus symptoms not to visit.
