The Mayor of Hereford’s charity prom night has been cancelled because of fears about coronavirus.
The event, in Hereford Town Hall, was to have raised money for the CLD Trust, a local charity that provides counselling services.
John Marshall, spokesperson from the mayor’s office, said: “We were having a number of people coming from away who had decided not to travel during the coronavirus problem.

“After serious conversation on Monday morning it was decided to postpone the ball until a later date.
“It was a difficult decision to be made by the mayor, but it had to be taken”.
In a Facebook post, the CLD Trust said: “We are sorry to hear that Councillor Kath Hey, the Mayor of Hereford, has had to postpone her charity prom out of concern regarding coronavirus.
The prom night was to have been held on Saturday, March 14, featuring live music, a two-course dinner and bar. Tickets have been on sale for £35.
