EVENTS planned to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe have been cancelled, Herefordshire Council have confirmed.
Events were planned across Herefordshire in May to mark the anniversary of Nazi Germany's surrender in 1945.
But the VE Day celebrations will no longer be taking place amid the coronavirus outbreak.
A Herefordshire Council spokesperson said: "This has been a difficult decision to take, due to the importance of this commemoration.
"However, we believe that it is important and appropriate to support our community following government guidance in relation to the coronavirus outbreak."
It has not yet been confirmed whether further planned events, including Armed Forces Day in June and Victory over Japan Day in August, will still take place.
Further information will be made available when possible at www.herefordshire.gov.uk/v75
