AN “incredibly hard working” family from south Herefordshire is being recognised for their dedication as they are nominated for this year’s farming awards.
The Stokes family, who farm at Eaton Bishop, are said to be a great representation of family farming by the veterinary team who nominated them got the Family Run Farm of the Year award.
Dad Tom, mum Di and sons Tim and Mark all play an active role on the farm.
“Together they lamb 550 ewes and 200 ewe lambs alongside a commercial cattle herd calving heifers in the spring and cows in autumn,” Belmont Farm and Equine Vets said.
“They are incredibly hard working and employ no outside staff. The boys not only work at home, but also help many other farmers in the county.
“The Stokes consistently produce high quality stock with minimal losses and exceptional attention to detail.
“Welfare is at the highest level on this farm, resulting in high efficiency and maximal output.
“The family are actively engaged with us as vets and Tom is held in the utmost respect within the farming community. They are driven by their passion and enthusiasm for farming and make a great team.”
The aim of the awards is to raise the profile of the farming communities in the Three Counties, with a ceremony expected to be held later this year.
Awards entries are invited from across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.
