HEREFORDSHIRE is in the lower-half of a new Covid-19 cases list that is being used by the government to determine whether to introduce local lockdowns.
Published by Public Health England (PHE) the figures show the rate of new cases in each area, based on tests that have been carried out in laboratories and in the wider community. The latest PHE figures show Herefordshire had, during the week ending June 28, an infection rate of 2.1 cases per 100,000 people.

The figures also show neighbouring Worcestershire on 5.7, Gloucestershire 0.6 and Shropshire 13.7.
Leicester tops the list with 140.2.
The figures, which include tests from laboratories (‘pillar 1’ of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (‘pillar 2’) aim to give a more comprehensive overview of the country than the daily figures for local areas that are published on the Department of Health website, which are based only on pillar 1 testing.
