POLICE have confirmed that it was a ‘malicious call’ which led to armed police attending a property in Leominster last night.
A family, away at the time, were left alarmed when they had a telephone call stating that police were outside their property.
Police had received a call regarding a man with a weapon entering a property in Ridgemoor Road, Leominster.
A neighbour contacted the family, who don’t want to be identified, and passed the phone to the armed police, who were waiting outside the property.
The family gave permission for the police to gain entry and search the property before the armed police left.
Chief Inspector Edd Williams said: “Following a call to officers regarding a man with a weapon entering a property in Ridgemoor Road, Leominster, extensive area enquires and a wide search conducted and local people were also spoken to. After a full investigation, we were satisfied that this was a malicious call.”
