A TOTAL of 19 new coronavirus deaths have been recorded across England, with no new deaths at the Wye Valley NHS Trust, latest figures show.
NHS England data shows the most recent coronavirus-related death occured on July 15, with the current toll standing at 57 as of 4pm on Wdnesday (July 22).
Across the midlands, two new deaths were recorded, taking the region's total deaths to 5,838 with a total of 19 new deaths recorded across England, bringing the number to 29,233.
Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.
This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the last 24 hours may actually have taken place days earlier.
NHS England guidance states: "Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure."
Only deaths that occur in hospitals where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 are recorded, with deaths in the community excluded, such as those in care homes.
Separate figures from Public Health England show 866 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Wednesday (July 22) in Herefordshire, up from 864 the same time on Tuesday.
