The vital shift towards low and zero-emission vehicles isn’t confined to cars and road transport. It’s a challenge in which the agricultural sector can proudly show the way.
New Holland, the only large-scale British tractor manufacturer, has long championed efficient engines and alternative fuels and today it is acknowledged as the clean energy leader in the industry. The introduction of its new T6.180 Methane Power, zero-emission tractor represents a key step in achieving energy-independent farming. Not only is it non-polluting, but it’s powered by methane generated on the farm, thus removing another potential pollutant from the agricultural cycle.
The great news is that the new T6.180 Methane Power is right here in Hereford alongside other top performers from the New Holland range and much else besides at T H WHITE on Tillington Road.
Many customers may have known the dealership as Ravenhill and, more recently, J G Plant Ltd. A year and a half ago the business was acquired by T H WHITE, a company founded in 1832 which has grown to become a leading UK agricultural dealer with a strong reputation built on value, trust and outstanding service.
The expertise and resources of the T H WHITE Group, combined with the knowledge and enthusiasm of the team at Hereford – who have been retained from the previous business owners – has proved a winning combination for the business.
Agricultural director David Rapkins explains: “We were delighted that many of the former staff transferred to T H WHITE so customers can continue to recognise familiar faces when they visit our well-stocked store. which is now better placed than ever to serve the region’s farming community.”
With an eye to helping the fruit farmers and orchard growers of the Hereford and Worcester area, the T H WHITE Hereford branch is making something of a specialty of New Holland’s T4 series of smaller tractors which are ideal for working between trees and vines.
Of course, tractors are just part of the New Holland offering at T H WHITE, and for this season the dealership is operating the latest CR9.90 combine harvester as a demonstrator with the option of a New Holland header or a premium Canadian MacDon header.
With the maize harvest just around the corner T H WHITE can also offer demonstrations of the New Holland FR650 forage harvester with a choice of maize headers. All demonstrations are currently being carried out with social distancing and all Covid-19 precautions.
As well as New Holland tractors, balers and harvesting equipment, T H WHITE in Hereford is an official dealer for cultivation equipment from the premium Norwegian brand Kverneland with a number of special offers and finance deals available, as well as Swedish specialists Väderstad. British-made trailers and muck spreaders are available from Ktwo, and for moving things around the farm T H WHITE is a main dealer for Manitou telehandlers. They also have the perfect solution for keeping hedgerows tidy – McConnel power arm hedge cutters.
Having recently been appointed as an official Kawasaki dealer, T H WHITE also supplies ATVs and utility vehicles, a rugged and dependable means of getting around the farm with the power to tow trailers for feed, livestock and implements.
Among the familiar staff faces salesmen Ben Linton and Will Farr are strongly supported by service and parts operations. The service workshop headed by Marc Williams embraces a team of manufacturer-trained technicians who can ensure your equipment performs at its best throughout its lifetime to enhance fuel efficiency, performance and safety. The service team does this through regular servicing and maintenance packages or attending breakdowns to replace parts and complete repairs.
The Hereford parts store, managed by Jim Lewis, is open to the public seven days a week during the agricultural season and you’ll be surprised at just how much is stocked there. Whether you need wellies, power tools, torches, a mower, electric fencing, pesticides, netwrap, or parts from over 30 agricultural equipment brands, we are here to help. You can call the parts team on 01432 352333.
“Call in and see us,” says David Rapkins. “We think you’ll be surprised at how our range and offering has grown as the dealership has re-established itself under the T H WHITE banner.
“More than ever in these challenging times it’s great to know that Hereford’s agricultural community will be served by a business that has been leading the field for almost 200 years – we’re here for the long haul, to help sustain livelihoods for generations to come.”
