The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Herefordshire increased by two over the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 905 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Thursday (August 20) in Herefordshire, up from 903 the same time on Wednesday.

It means since last Wednesday (August 12) cases have risen by 12 from 893.

But the number of people who have died at the Wye Valley NHS Trust after testing positive for coronavirus hasn't risen since July 15. NHS England figures show as of 4pm on Wednesday, 57 people had died at the trust.

The rate of infection in Herefordshire now stands at 469 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 495.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 1,182 over the period, to 322,280.

Herefordshire's cases were among the 29,128 recorded across the West Midlands, a figure which rose by 138 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
