THE A49 was closed in north Herefordshire on Friday morning as emergency services dealt with a lorry which had lost its load.
West Mercia Police said the road was closed at the junction with the A456 at The Salwey Arms, Woofferton.
Shropshire Fire Service attended, and logs show crews were called at 6.22am on Friday.
Six fire appliances were sent to the scene from Ludlow, as well as an operations officer.
The service said the spillage of milk containers from the lorry was prevented from entering the watercourse by crews.
The road reopened later on Friday morning.
2/2 Milk is highly toxic to wildlife living in the water and just one litre is as damaging as 40 litres of sewage. Also attended was a crew from Ludlow.
