The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Herefordshire has risen by 11 in the latest set of daily figures.

Public Health England figures show that 1,050 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Monday (October 5) in Herefordshire, up from 1,039 the same time on Sunday.

It means since last Monday (September 28) there have been 39 new cases reported in the county.

The rate of infection in Herefordshire now stands at 545 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 784.

The graph below shows the number of cases in Herefordshire by date of test, and not the day when the cases were published by PHE. There can be a few days while waiting for tests results to be returned from laboratories.

It comes as the first Covid-19 in more than two months at the Wye Valley NHS Trust has been reported.

It means the death toll at hospitals in Herefordshire has now risen to 58.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 48,425 over the period to 515,571, following the addition of nearly 16,000 cases that went unreported because of problems in handling an Excel spreadsheet.

PHE said that the error resulted in 15,841 cases between September 25 and October 2 being left out of the reported daily coronavirus cases.

CORONAVIRUS LATEST:

Herefordshire's cases were among the 47,241 recorded across the West Midlands, a figure which rose by 3,589 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
