A BOTTLE of vodka was found under the seat of a drink-driver's crashed car, a court has heard.
Isaac Thomas George Beamond admitted driving while over the limit when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford on October 7.
Prosecutor Ralph Robyns Landricombe said police were called to reports of a possible crash on Chestnut Drive in Hereford just after 2am on August 30.
The court heard police found a black Volkswagen Fox, which had hit a stationary car, with damage to its front and side blocking the road.
A witness was able to describe Beamond, who had left the scene, and told officers they had called the police after the 32-year-old asked for help moving the car.
Beamond, who is from Bodmin Close, Belmont, was found with three other men after a search, and was arrested after failing a roadside breath test.
An evidential test in custody revealed he had 76 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
A bottle of vodka was found under one of the car's seats, and Beamond admitted he had drunk lager and vodka before driving to a friend's home.
In interview, Beamond said he had left the scene as he was drunk and worried about the repercussions.
George Cousins, for Beamond, said he had been talked into driving his friends home.
"He tried to move the car and asked a member of the public to help, but they called the police, so he went to get some friends to help him move it," Mr Cousins said.
"The next day he said his friends had been drinking from the bottle of vodka, but he accepts he was over the limit."
Beamond was disqualified from driving for 20 months and fined £125. He must also pay costs of £135 and a £34 victim surcharge.
