GLOBAL navigation satellite system jamming activity just over the border in Brecon could affect GPS systems in Herefordshire this week.

The Civil Aviation Authority said low power jamming will take place from 9am to 4pm between November 9 and 20, affecting airspace above Wales and the south west of England.

The activity may affect GNSS navigation and precision timing devices including electronic situational awareness devices and drones, the authority said.

Jamming may hit GNSS signals up to 40,000 feet above mean sea levels and within 63 nautical miles of Sennybridge, Brecon, which is around 32 nautical miles from Hereford city.

During the trials, systems relying on GNSS reception may suffer intermittent or total failure, the authority warned.
