THERE are plans to refurbish and expand the Home Bargains store in Hereford.
The proposals would see the discount store off Holmer Road amalgamate with the unit currently occupied by Bensons for Beds.
The scheme includes a new shop front and entrance extensions and the car park would be rearranged with parent and child spaces, trolley corral and bollards.
If approved, Home Bargains would expand its floorspace from 1,397 square metres to 2,051.
TJ Morris, who trade as Home Bargains, own the freehold of the site and the store currently operates from unit A.

“Bensons for Beds currently occupy the adjacent unit B which TJM have recently acquired on a freehold basis to facilitate expansion of the existing store and ensure the long-term occupancy of existing floorspace in a very challenging retail market,” the planning and retail statement reads.
“This amalgamation of the two units will result in HB increasing its store by 654 square metres to create an enlarged unit of 2,051 square metres.
“The application presents an opportunity for Home Bargains to retain their presence in Hereford and securing the long-term occupancy of existing floorspace.
“The proposals represent private sector investment and will lead to the refurbishment and improvement of the existing retail unit together with the retention and creation of new jobs.”
People have until November 27 to comment on the proposals which Herefordshire Council is expected to consider by December 30.
