A MAN has been handed a suspended jail sentence after a "vicious assault" in Hereford.
Martyn Smith appeared before magistrates in Hereford for sentencing on October 30 after he was found guilty of attacking another person at trial on October 5.
The court heard the 30-year-old had caused actual bodily harm to another person in the attack in Chiltern Square on April 24.

Magistrates said the offence was serious as the victim had "suffered nasty injuries following a vicious assault," and jailed Smith, of Moorfield Street, Hereford, for six months, suspended for two years.
He was also ordered to pay compensation of £300, costs of £200, and a £128 victim surcharge.
