EIGHT fire engines were called to battle a house fire in Herefordshire yesterday.
Crews from Whitchurch, Ewyas Harold, Fownhope, Hereford, Peterchurch, Ross, and two fire crews from Monmouth fire stations were called to Broad Oak, near the border with Wales, at midday on November 16.
They were joined at the scene by supporting officers and the water carrier.
A fire service spokesperson said the fire damaged the ground floor, first floor and roof area of the property.
Some 12 breathing apparatus teams were used, with hose reels, main jets and cover jets to attack and tackle the blaze.
Ladders were used at the back and front of the property to gain access to the roof and remove a proportion of the roofing materials, and relief crews remained at the scene through the evening.
Emergency crews confirmed that no-one was injured in the fire.
