A THIRD group of pupils at a Hereford secondary school has been sent home to self-isolate after another positive coronavirus case was confirmed.
Hereford Academy said it understands parents might find this concerning, but it continues to monitor the situation.
It's the third positive case at the school in Marlbrook Road since November 12, but it's not believed the cases are linked.
Headteacher Michael Stoppard said in a letter to parents: "We have been made aware of a member of our school community has tested positive for Covid-19.
"To re-assure this is a different year group to the previous single case and there is, therefore, no concerns around attending the Academy.
"There were no symptoms whilst students attended school, therefore, this is a precautionary measure. This case is treated as a single case by Public Health England.
"We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.
He added: "The small number of children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have received a letter informing them that their child must stay at home for 14 days.
"The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well."
Hereford Academy previously confirmed single cases on November 12 and November 19.
School leaders have not said if it is pupils or staff who have tested positive.
