TONIGHT (Thursday, November 26) is the night when we salute our magnificent farmers!

Starting at 7pm on the Hereford Times Facebook page, an exciting celebrity-studded ceremony will reveal our agricultural heroes of 2020.

The show lasts for about an hour and in this – the year of coronavirus – it is sure to be packed with inspiring stories about those who have ensured we get the food we need and love, despite the immense challenges they have faced.

We recommend that you watch live, but don't worry if you can't... the video will remain on our page for you to watch when it best suits you.

BBC Countryfile presenter Adam Henson will be your host, and some other household names will be making guest appearances.

We want you to get the most of out the evening by watching with friends where you can do so safely, and by sharing your messages, pictures and videos on social media.

So here’s our guide to how you can get involved.

  1. Watch in real time if you can. It will be much more fun to watch as the drama unfolds, so you can share the emotion of the evening with others.
  2. Ideally, watch it in the same place as friends and colleagues – as long as you can observe the coronavirus rules on social gatherings, which you can find here . Don’t forget to arrange some drinks and nibbles. If you have a potential winner in your party you might even want to quietly put a couple of bottles of bubbly on ice just in case!
  3. If you are watching alone at home book a reminder here so you are all ready for the show before it starts. Facebook will then send you a reminder when the event is close to starting. If you are not confident about using Facebook ask a friend to give you a demo of the basics – it really isn’t difficult to use. You can view the show on a PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. Some TVs also give you access to Facebook. You do NOT need an account (or profile) with Facebook to be able to watch.
  4. Don’t just watch the show – take part too! The video will be streamed in a Facebook post that you can share with your friends and neighbours. You can also add your comments, emojis and photos. Send your best wishes to the nominees and congratulations to the winners, tag family and friends to bring them into the fun, share pictures of your celebrations if someone you know wins an award, and show your appreciation as often as you can for some wonderful people in Herefordshire and beyond who have worked tirelessly throughout this awful pandemic.
  5. You can also join in the fun on Twitter and Instagram. You won’t be able to watch the awards ceremony on those platforms, but you can certainly post messages of support and share your celebrations. Include the #3Cfarmingawards hashtag so we can find your posts and share them as widely as possible, or just tag us: @herefordtimes.

Adam Henson won’t be the only star there tonight. Ben Fogle (broadcaster, writer and adventurer), Michael Chakraverty (2019 Great British Bake Off Finalists) and Shirley Ballas (head judge on the BBC TV show, Strictly Come Dancing) are just three of several making appeareances. The full list is of special guests is here.

Twelve awards will be handed out during the evening to recognise the dedication and professionalism of our farmers.
