The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Herefordshire increased by five in the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 2,578 people in Herefordshire had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 between March 1 and 9am on Tuesday (December 8).

That compares to 2,573 the same time on Monday, and means since last Tuesday 95 new cases have been confirmed.

The graph below shows the number of cases in Herefordshire by date of test, and not the day when the cases were published by PHE.

The Government website says the last five days' data is incomplete, thought to be due to a delay in results being processed.

On the most-recent day with complete data, December 2, there were 15 positive coronavirus test samples taken.

That was lower than the 29 taken the same day the previous week.

The overall trend suggests the number of new cases has been falling since 67 new cases were found on November 10.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 12,281 over the period, to 1,750,241.

Herefordshire's cases were among the 176,426 recorded across the West Midlands, a figure which rose by 1,065 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
