AN 84-year-old man who made photographs of a sexual act being committed on a child has been handed a suspended sentence.
David William John Cowell entered a guilty plea when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.
The court heard Cowell had made six of the most serious type of indecent photographs of a child, category A images, which showed a sexual act being committed, on March 25 2018.
He made a further 'category B' indecent photograph of a child on November 8 2018.
Cowell, of Monks Meadow, Much Marcle, was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, fined £800, and must pay costs of £185 and a £115 victim surcharge.
He was also made subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order banning him from using any device capable of accessing the internet without notifying the police or using any device on which the full browsing history cannot be saved.
He is also banned from contacting and having unsupervised contact with children under 16 and travelling outside England and Wales without notifying police
