MUMS-to-be in Herefordshire will have to attend scanning appointments alone because of the rapid spread of new-variant Covid-19.
Wye Valley NHS Trust has introduced the ban on partners, relatives and friends at Hereford County Hospital from immediate effect today.
A statement from the trust's maternity services department said: "We are sorry for any distress this may cause, and we understand this is a difficult time due to the pandemic.

"This decision has not been taken lightly and is only a temporary measure for the ongoing safety of women and staff.
"Once we have new screens in place in the scanning room we will be able to reinstate partners attending scanning appointments as soon as possible.
"If you have specific concerns please speak to your midwife or during weekends call our maternity triage on 0799 0986517."
Women affected are being contacted directly by phone by the trust.
Expectant mum Abigail Myles, of Ludlow, said: "It is a difficult decision, I’m sure, but it’s something that will keep us all safe.
"My thoughts go out to all expecting mothers, who, like me, won’t have their partners there for future scans.
"Thank you, Wye Valley, for all your hard work. You do a fantastic job. I hope the screens are out up soon."
Jason Turley, who runs a company in Newent, said: "Disappointing to say the least.
"I know and understand there are issues, but these have been around for over a year now.
"More than enough time to ensure the safety of all involved.
"Next they'll be saying I cannot be present at the birth of our child.
"What difference is a screen going to make? We wear masks, sanitise and are temperature-checked upon entry to the hospital and unit.
"If we have a lateral flow test prior to the scan surely this will be sufficient?"
