THERE are plans for a new luxury glamping site near Bromyard which would take up to 12 Airstream caravans.
Mojo Fell wants permission to place the caravans on 18.5 acres of an unused meadow and create a utility and reception building at The Mews in Green Lane.
The Wells is a private property which has a large commercial barn for the storage and maintenance of American Airstreams.
These caravans are the property of Airstream Facilities Ltd, of which Mr Fell is a director.
Under normal conditions they are used as glamping accommodation and hospitality venues at festivals and events nationwide.
But with the outbreak of Covid-19 and the cancellation of almost all events, Mr Fell wants to diversify to keep his business alive.
He hopes that these plans will allow him to his staff employed while creating new job roles for people in the community.
If the scheme is approved, the glamping site would be used throughout the spring, summer and autumn, with the Airstreams put into the existing storage facility on the site over the winter months.
Consultants working on the scheme say it will create a unique, luxury experience, with 12 plots spread across the site.
OTHER NEWS:
“The locations have been carefully chosen to utilise the natural features of the land, ensuring privacy to each plot, and to creating unique experiences,” the design and access statement reads.
“The Airstreams are positioned either high atop a slope to give views across the countryside, or nestled in the natural hideaways along the tree lined valley.
“Each plot will be 12 metres by 12 metres of levelled compacted hardcore finished in either wood chipping or astro turf.
“This will create a level drained area to house an Airstream as well as outside amenities, such as a firepit, picnic table, outside loungers and in some cases a hot tub.
“The Airstreams are self-contained and fully serviced, housing sleeping area, kitchen, shower room and toilet and living area.
“The Airstreams are widely considered to be design icons and are aesthetically sleek and unique.
“Both the trailers themselves and the external provisions will provide a high-end luxury experience.”
People have until February 26 to comment on the proposals which Herefordshire Council is expected to consider by April 19.
