THE NHS has revealed how many more people have had the coronavirus vaccine in Herefordshire and Worcestershire – and the counties are still amongst the best in the country.
A total of 109,196 doses of the Covid-19 jab have been given in the two counties as of Sunday (January 24), up by 30,256 from 78,940 the same day the week before
Of these, 63,577 of those were as a first dose to people aged under 80, and 44,113 to the over-80s.
This compares to 39,872 and 37,609 the week before.
The NHS England figures also show 631 under-80s have had their second dose, along with 875 over-80s.
It means 89.4 per cent of the over-80 population in the two counties have now been vaccinated, up from 76 per cent on January 21.
Provisional figures from NHS England show the number of first doses broken down by so-called Sustainability & Transformational Partnerships (STPs), each of which contains a number of local authorities, NHS trusts and clinical commissioning groups.
There are 42 STPs covering the whole of England and figures show that up to January 24 Gloucestershire STP had the highest proportion of people aged 80 and over who had received their first vaccine dose, followed by Herefordshire & Worcestershire (89 per cent) and Northamptonshire (87 per cent).
The STPs with the lowest proportions were Our Healthier South East London (60 per cent) and East London Health & Care Partnership (63 per cent).
