VISITORS to a national park just over the Herefordshire border have been reported for breaching coronavirus restrictions after travelling long distances for exercise.
Officers from Powys Roads Policing Unit said they had been carrying out patrols in the Brecon Beacons this morning.
While there, they found visitors from as far afield as Liverpool, Bristol, and Cardiff, who were reported for breaching coronavirus regulations and sent home.
In January, the National Park Authority said despite Wales remaining in lockdown, it had become apparent that people were continuing to park at popular National Park beauty spots, against Welsh Government regulations and putting themselves and the park’s fragile rural communities at risk.
As a result, the National Park Authority, working in cooperation with the local authorities and other partners, has closed areas of the park popular with visitors and which pose a risk for the transmission of coronavirus.
Since then, police have been maintaining high-visibility patrols in the area.
