I ENTIRELY agree with your editorial and correspondents that we voters have the right to know who voted which way on the important matter of the Hereford bypass.

There can be no possible justification for an unnamed vote other than to protect some councillors from the open opposition of their constituents – and if they can’t face opposition they should not have stood as councillors in the first place.
But the greatest suspicion lies with those who abstained.
We need to know not only who they are but why they declined to vote.
Cowardice? Indecisiveness? Or vested interest? Or did they make a deal with the anti-bypass party that they would abstain so that the majority vote was
clearer, just in case an anti-bypasser changed his or her mind?
Transparency, please – now.
