As well as sponsoring the Best Food Producer category, the Addington Fund will once again be the chosen Charity of the Year, with all donations received before the end of June going directly to support the charity’s vital work helping the farming community.
A competition will be opened throughout June, whereby anyone who donates to the Addington Fund, online or by text, will be automatically entered into a prize draw, with a chance of winning a Farming or Family Photoshoot by Addington Fund’s professional photographer, Abby Cohen (Abby Cohen Photography) and a delicious Herefordshire food hamper full of locally produced goodies (competition details to be released soon).
The Hereford Times Food and Farming Awards is one of the first major events that the Addington Fund has been involved with since the beginning of the pandemic. Bill Young, chief executive, said: “We at the Addington Fund are delighted not only to be chosen as the Charity of the Year but also to support a category in this year’s Hereford Times Food and Farming Awards.
“We have a long tradition of supporting farmers in the Three Counties, and our chairman, Peter Jinman, is Herefordshire-based so it seemed totally natural to be involved again this year, and we are really pleased to be asked.
“As a charity, we are busier than ever as demand for retirement homes is at an all-time high. We are embarking on an ambitious building programme to keep up with this demand for both affordable and retirement houses, as well as continuing to support farmers with disaster relief and new entrants as they strive to get into farming.
