A PENSIONER hit a pedestrian after mounting the pavement in his car, a court has heard.
Peter Walter Crispe admitted driving without due care and attention when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster.
The court heard the 83-year-old had been behind the wheel of a Ford Focus in Leigh Sinton on June 25 when he approached a road closure, despite three advanced warning signs.
Instead of taking an alternative route, Crispe mounted the pavement, driving towards a pedestrian who approached him shouting "stop."
But, the court heard, Crispe accelerated, hitting the pedestrian in the leg and continuing to drive through the road closure without stopping.
Crispe then failed to report the incident, which left the pedestrian with bruising and soreness, to the police.
Crispe, of Broadmoor Common, Woolhope, was fined £50 and received three penalty points. He must also pay costs of £200 and a £34 victim surcharge.
